January 25, 2012, Garden Report

1/25/2012

Gardeners,
The garden looks pretty good for this time of year. We do have a problem with gophers and Patty’s bed has been hit, the gopher came up between her beautiful cabbages and the cabbages may wilt from root damage.  This may be a good time to harvest them, Julie’s has some damage as well.  We were unable to locate the gophers run(hole) so we could insert the trap. Please let me know of any new gopher activity.

We had a small amount of wind damage, such as tomato rings and plants tipped over. There are a large number of tomatoes needing harvesting. I took tomatoes approximately two pounds from Steve and Shelly’s, Anne’s and the donation bed to Good Samaritans today. They were very happy to get them. I was told they give each household a couple tomatoes at a time. I am proud we are able to help.

My husband and Richard built a cover for the water system/timer and it is large enough for storage. Check it out!

See you in the garden,

Judy
