We are building some new beds, Yay, it's so exciting!

1/31/2012

Gardeners we will be building and filling the next fifteen garden beds on February 4 & possibly the 5, 2012. You are invited to join the boy scouts in constructing the beds and filling them with soil. We are happy to say scout Josh managed to get enough donations to pay for the new beds. This is Josh’s Eagle Badge project, so please everyone come out to thank Josh and crew and lend a helping hand. ACCG

Fellow gardeners, I have added a couple of recipes to the site using the abundance of our garden.  Enjoy, Connie D.

January 25, 2012, Garden Report

1/25/2012

Gardeners,
The garden looks pretty good for this time of year. We do have a problem with gophers and Patty’s bed has been hit, the gopher came up between her beautiful cabbages and the cabbages may wilt from root damage.  This may be a good time to harvest them, Julie’s has some damage as well.  We were unable to locate the gophers run(hole) so we could insert the trap. Please let me know of any new gopher activity.

We had a small amount of wind damage, such as tomato rings and plants tipped over. There are a large number of tomatoes needing harvesting. I took tomatoes approximately two pounds from Steve and Shelly’s, Anne’s and the donation bed to Good Samaritans today. They were very happy to get them. I was told they give each household a couple tomatoes at a time. I am proud we are able to help.

My husband and Richard built a cover for the water system/timer and it is large enough for storage. Check it out!

See you in the garden,

Judy

Thanks for the new garden photos Richard

I have posted them to the photos page, and I have a new one to post of Helen's huge cabbages.  She was quite proud of them and wanted to show them off.

I need garden photos

1/1/2012

Hi everyone, I keep forgetting to take photos of the garden to add here to the blog.  If you have digital photos you can send me I would appreciate it.  I would like to get some current photos of the garden and maybe even some progress photos since the ones on the blog are of the first planting.  Thanks, Connie

January 11th is our General Meeting and will be held at the garden, 11:00 am..

1/1/2012

Gardeners,
January 11th general meeting will be at 11 am at the garden. Garden guest will be Ginger Easton-Smith our own county extension agent. Ginger will visit and answer questions one on one for you about your garden beds. Get your questions ready, general question or specific ones.

While you are waiting your turn this would be a good time to harvest and for general cleaning of the area around your garden beds. Please remember to bring garbage bags, gloves and a hand tool to weed with.

Happy New Years and Happy Gardening,
Judy
